SERMON MESSAGE:

What You Refuse To Deal With Today Will Deal With You Tomorrow (Part 2)

DATE: 08/02/25

BY: EFFIONG ETOK – CARRIER OF GOD’S WORD

SCRIPTURE TEXT:

Proverbs 22:15 (KJV)
“Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.”

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:

” Neglected responsibilities today become unbearable burdens tomorrow”

INTRODUCTION

Life is filled with consequences, and the choices we make today shape the reality we live in tomorrow. Many of us are living in the aftermath of decisions made by those before us-our parents, leaders, and even ourselves. Some of the pain, disorder, and struggles we see in our families today stem from things that were ignored, excused, or left unresolved in the past.

The Bible says in Proverbs 22:15 that foolishness is bound in the heart of a child, meaning that every human being, from childhood, has a natural inclination to act unwisely, carelessly, and irresponsibly. However, without correction, discipline, and direction, foolishness does not disappear-it grows and eventually destroys. What is ignored today does not stay the same; it multiplies and spreads into every area of life.

THE STATE WE CAME TO SEE IN OUR FAMILIES.

Think about the family you were born into. Many of us grew up in homes where certain patterns existed-whether good or bad.

Some of us were born into families where poverty was the norm-generations of financial struggles, lack of education, and missed opportunities.

Some of us came into families where marital problems were constant-abuse, adultery, divorce, and broken relationships.

Some of us saw parents who had no time for God-they never taught us about prayer, righteousness, or godly living.

Some of us grew up in families with strongholds of anger, resentment, and bitterness-where misunderstandings lasted for years, and forgiveness was a foreign concept.

We did not create these problems; they existed before we arrived. But the question is, have we done anything to break these patterns? Or are we following the same road that leads to destruction?

THE STATE OUR FAMILY IS IN RIGHT NOW.

The sad truth is that many of us have continued the same errors we once condemned. The same mistakes our parents made, we are now making. The same negligence that caused their downfall is now causing ours.

Look at our homes today-are they filled with peace or strife?

Look at our marriages today-are we building strong relationships, or are we allowing bitterness and disunity to reign?

Look at our children today-are they growing in wisdom, or have we neglected to correct their foolishness, allowing them to be shaped by the world?

God is asking us: Are we repeating the cycle or breaking it?

HOW IS THE WELL-BEING OF OUR HUSBANDS, WIVES, AND CHILDREN?

Our Husbands -Are they suffering because of our negligence, our inability to support and respect them? Are we the reason they are breaking under pressure?

Our Wives -Are they living in pain, carrying burdens alone because we have failed to love, protect, and provide?

Our Children -Are they growing in wisdom, discipline, and the fear of God, or are they being left to be consumed by the foolishness of the world?

THE WARNING FROM SCRIPTURE:

1 Samuel 3:13 – God rebuked Eli the priest because he refused to correct his sons, and in the end, their sin destroyed them.

Judges 2:10 – A generation arose that did not know God because the parents failed to teach them.

Proverbs 29:15 – “The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.”

CALL TO ACTION: A TIME FOR CHANGE

Brothers and sisters, this is not just a sermon; it is a wake-up call!

•What sin have you allowed in your home?

•What patterns of irresponsibility have you overlooked?

•What warnings from God have you ignored?

Today, CRY OUT TO GOD and ask for His mercy! If you refuse to deal with these issues today, they will deal with you tomorrow.

CLOSING REFLECTION

Will you continue to ignore the issues, or will you rise and take responsibility? What you refuse to deal with today will deal with you tomorrow. Make the decision today to build a godly family, a righteous home, and a future free from the errors of the past.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Oh Lord, open my eyes to every mistake, every neglected responsibility, and every compromise that is silently destroying my life and family. Do not let me realize my errors when it is too late! Father, break my heart for the things I have ignored and give me the strength to correct them now. Have mercy on me before destruction comes! In Jesus’ Mighty Name, Amen.

2. Father, by Your power, I break every evil cycle in my family-patterns of failure, suffering, rebellion, and crisis. My home will not be a victim of what destroyed those before me! My children will not inherit my struggles! Lord, deliver us and rewrite our story with mercy. In Jesus’ Mighty Name, Amen.

3. Lord, restore my marriage, my children, and my entire family to Your perfect plan! If I have destroyed what You gave me, Father, rebuild it! Let my home not become a battlefield, and let my children not bring me shame. Lord, I surrender-take over and correct everything I have done wrong! In Jesus’ Mighty Name, Amen.
