A fifteen (15) years old Grade 7 female pupil of Chitulika Primary School in Mpika District of Muchinga Province, Zambia named Gloria Kaonga has reportedly taken her life after the Head Teacher ordered her to repeat Grade 6 because of her average performance.
According to several credible sources, Gloria first pleaded with the school authorities to allow her write Grade 7 Examination this year (2025) since she was about to turn 16 but was refused.
It was learnt that she was ordered to study with the 11 years olds who are in Grade 6.
Multiple sources said the late girl then started crying, resorting to refusing food before she sadly committed suicide. So sad.
As at the time of this report, local police authorities were yet to issue statement on the incident.
