MESSAGE TITLE:
“The Tears Of The Parents: Silent Cries Of Pains, Love, Faith, And Sacrifices”
DATE: 19/02/25
BY: EFFIONG ETOK
Carrier of God’s Word
SCRIPTURE TEXT:
Lamentations 2:19 (NIV):
“Arise, cry out in the night, as the watches of the night begin; pour out your heart like water in the presence of the Lord. Lift up your hands to him for the lives of your children.”
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
The most painful tears are not those that fall from the eyes, but those that pour from a parent’s heart-silent cries that move heaven and shape destinies.
INTRODUCTION:
Have you ever heard the deep, painful groan of a parent whose heart is shattered for their child? The world may not see it, but heaven hears it. Some parents have cried until they died-crying for children who never returned, crying for children who brought sorrow instead of joy. Many children today wander the streets-lost, broken, and hopeless-because life crushed them before they had a chance to rise.
Some parents go to bed hungry, abandoned by the very children they raised with tears. Others live in shame, lying to the world because they cannot say, “My child has failed me.”
And what could be more painful than this:
“The pain that your parents waited to see your help, but they left unfulfilled. What a pain and disappointment!”
Must it continue this way? Today, let every parent and child break down and cry before God. Because tears before God today will save tears of sorrow tomorrow.
MAIN MESSAGE:
David, the mighty king, cried from the depths of his soul:
> “O my son Absalom! If only I had died instead of you!” (2 Samuel 18:33).
But those tears were too late-too late to save his son, too late to repair the damage. It was not on the battlefield that David lost his son; he lost him long before-when pride, anger, and silence stood where love and correction should have been.
How many parents today are one phone call away from such tears?
How many parents waited for their children’s help but were buried with broken hearts?
What greater sorrow than a parent who dies without reaping the fruits of their labor-waiting, hoping, and leaving unfulfilled?
Parents, cry now in prayer, not in pain!
PRAYER POINT:
O God, let my tears for my children be tears of testimony, not tears of tragedy! Rescue them from destruction before it is too late!
LOOK AT HAGAR:
Hagar, a mother cast out into the wilderness, placed her son Ishmael under a bush, walked away, and wept:
> “Let me not see the death of my boy” (Genesis 21:16).
Hagar cried, but God heard the cry of the child. Parents, your tears are powerful, but your children’s pain is louder in heaven.
While they roam the streets, while they suffer in silence, will you not cry to God for them? Some of them are on drugs, in gangs, and in prisons-not because they are wicked but because life broke them. But one tearful prayer from you can open a well of mercy for them.
PRAYER POINT:
O God, let my tears speak for my children where my voice cannot reach! Pull them out of every pit of suffering, addiction, and shame! Let their destiny not waste in the wilderness of life!
BUT WHAT OF TODAY?
Many parents have children who are dead-not in body, but in hope. Children who roam the streets with no purpose, trapped in crime, addiction, and poverty.
And what could be more heartbreaking than:
> “The pain that your parents waited to see your help, but they left unfulfilled. What a pain and disappointment!”
Many parents die of heartbreak because they cannot get help from the children they raised. Some go to bed hungry, abandoned and forgotten. Children who should be their joy have become their sorrow.
PRAYER POINT:
O God, arise for my children! Break the chains of poverty and hopelessness! Give them purpose, open doors of opportunities, and let me live to reap the fruits of my labor!
CLOSING REFLECTION:
How many parents have died with unanswered prayers? How many live today with broken hearts? Must you, as a parent, die crying? And you, children-must your parents go to the grave in sorrow because of you?
Remember:
“The pain that your parents waited to see your help, but they left unfulfilled. What a pain and disappointment!”
Let your tears flow before God. If you can cry to Him today, you may never have to cry in sorrow tomorrow. God is listening-cry now!
CLOSING PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, let my tears be the voice of my children! Deliver them from every chain of poverty, hard luck, addiction, and hopelessness-turn their lives into testimonies, in Jesus’ mighty name!
2. Father, do not let me labor in vain! Break the spirit of hardship over my family! Let my children prosper, and let me live to see and enjoy the fruits of their success, in Jesus’ name!
3. (Prayer from Children to their Parents):
Heavenly Father, may my parents not suffer in vain! Reward their sacrifices with joy and long life. Help me to honor them with my life, my success, and my love while they are still alive, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen!
