Tension at Gov Umo Eno’s home over Supervisors’ list

…as Nsit Ubium stakeholders spoil for war

Advertorial:

REJECTION OF THE SUPERVISOR’S LIST FOR UBIUM SOUTH WARD 2 IN NSIT UBIUM LGA: A CALL FOR JUSTICE AND FAIRNESS

In a recent turn of events that has sparked widespread dissatisfaction and concern within the political landscape in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, the proposed list of Supervisor’s for Ubium South Ward 2 has been met with a vehement REJECTION by key political leaders and stakeholders. The names on the list, which have undergone alterations, have led to tensions between the appointed authority and the concerned political figures. These stakeholders, led by Rt. Hon. Dan Akpan PhD., Elder (Otuekong) Emmanuel Ibiok, and Hon. Victor Brown, have unequivocally rejected the changes and raised alarm over the potential implications on the governance and democratic process in the ward.

TRUNCATION OF EXISTING ZONING FORMULA

It is crucial to first note that the political leaders in question—Rt. Hon. Dan Akpan PhD., a highly respected figure in the political arena; Elder (Otuekong) Emmanuel Ibiok, an influential community leader and a great politician; and Hon. Victor Brown, a longstanding representative of the people—are not merely dissenting for personal interests. Their objection to the revised list is rooted in deep concerns over the democratic principles of transparency, accountability, and fairness. The changes to the list have raised legitimate questions about the involvement of key stakeholders in the decision-making process and the principles of due consultation with the people of Ubium South Ward 2.

In Ubium South 2, we have an existing zoning formula for Councilorship & Supervisory Councilor which we have been respected since 1999.

Moreover, the political leaders and stakeholders of Ubium South Ward 2 are calling for immediate redress. They are seeking the intervention of the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, and the Chairman of Nsit Ubium Local Government, Hon. Alfred Charles, in addressing this matter. The integrity of the political process and the will of the people must remain paramount, and these leaders are advocating for a revision of the list that accurately reflects the consensus of the ward.

It is not only the political figures but also the general public who stand to be affected by decisions that are made without proper consultation. The stakeholders of Ubium South Ward 2 represent the collective voice of their communities, and any disregard for their opinions undermines the very fabric of democracy. The people’s right to be involved in decisions that affect their welfare cannot be compromised for any reason.

In conclusion, the rejection of the Supervisor list for Ubium South Ward 2 is a protest against the erosion of democratic values and a plea for justice and fairness in the political process. The political leaders of Ubium South Ward 2, alongside other stakeholders, stand firm in their demand for the immediate reversal of the name changes on the list. As they call upon the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, and the Chairman of Nsit Ubium Local Government, to heed the call of the people and ensure that the rights and interests of the people are upheld in this matter. It is only through such actions that they can preserve the integrity of democratic system and ensure a future where the people’s voices are truly heard.
