See the Davido’s ‘Nigeria In Shambles’ interview and reactions

‘The singer is right’ -Nigerians

“I have never been proud of being a Nigerian. Nothing is going well there, I’m even ashamed of Nigeria right now.” Davido

“Nobody who is in America should leave America to go back to Africa. I will not lie, it’s not cool back home.

I have never been proud to be a Nigerian. The Nigerian economy right now is in shambles. I even feel ashamed anytime I go back to Nigeria. When I’m filming, I don’t show the bad parts because I’m an ambassador.

But the truth is, there’s nothing good in Nigeria. Don’t waste your time going there. Nothing is going well in Nigeria. The exchange rate is messed up, we have like the lowest currency value in Africa at the moment.

The oil prices are too high, the fuel prices are too high.  And it’s sad because we produce the oil and fuel but we’re paying more money for oil than a country that’s importing oil. Entertainment is the only thing that has made Africa look good but in reality we’re suffering.”___ Davido

Davido bitterly warns Africans, especially Nigerians in America against going back to Africa

Davido’s remarks in the interview have continued to raise huge dusts with some Nigerians speaking for and against the poplar musician.

One of those against Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke, is a former Presidential aide and social media influencer, Reno Omokiri who trounced him for speaking against a country out of which he makes his fortunes.

Others are also of the opinion that with Davido’s father making huge cash in Nigeria from his investment in power generation and his uncle being a serving governor of Osun state, Davido was wrong to have described the country with the derogatory words he used.

According to Tokunbo AremoOdua:

“When DAVIDO (David Adeleke) wanted fame through music, he left the US and returned down to Nigeria, because he couldn’t compete there with his frog voice. Then he didn’t realise that Nigeria economy was in shambles.

Now that he has gotten all the fame he wanted, he is telling Nigerians said that he wouldn’t live in Nigeria because Nigeria economy is in shambles.

He prefers living in the US and paying taxes from the wealth he made in shambles in Nigeria.

Akon, the Senegalese superstar, after making fame in the US through music, relocated to Senegal to help build the Senegalese economy and contribute to African development.

Akon is the owner of multi billion dollars investment in Africa, including Wave Money.

But this little spoilt child with frog voice doesn’t see investing in Nigeria and creates job opportunities for the Youths who are mostly his fans as viable option.

Akon is doing allot in Senegal and creating jobs for African youths, even inspiring them to get out of poverty. But Davido thinks life is all about enjoyment and living large in the US.

This is why people like us will not rated him”.

But other citizens of Nigeria have also come out to support afrobeat king, saying that he was right in his assertions.

Commenting on the matter via his social media handle, @TimoDave said “It’s only hypocrites who want Davido to pretend and lie that would blame him for making the remarks in that interview.

As a major oil producing country, is it justifiable for Nigeria to exist for years now without functional Oil Refinery?

Today in Nigeria, a lot of families go to bed without meals because the current President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu had removed fuel subsidy without making provision for locally-refined petrol. Today, everything is beyond reach because of high cost of petrol. Is that what people would say that Davido was wrong?”
