‘He was shot by Nigerian soldiers’ -Report
According to a security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Ola Makama, “Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Dauda Buba Fika, a revered officer in Nigeria’s fight against Boko Haram, has passed away. He died at the National Hospital, Abuja, at about 3:30 PM on Tuesday.
ACP Fika, known for his bravery and leadership, played a key role in reclaiming several towns in Yobe and Borno states from Boko Haram insurgents. As the Commander of Mopol 41, he led joint security operations that significantly weakened terrorist strongholds, including the liberation of his hometown, Fika, from their grip”.
Makama, who posted on his verified X App (formerly Twitter) handle claimed that ACP Fika’s death followed injuries he sustained from gunshots during an operation in Yobe state.
According to Makama’s report “In 2017, he sustained gunshot injuries during an operation in Yobe State, injuries that required prolonged medical treatment until his passing.
Security officials, colleagues, and members of the public have expressed deep sorrow over his death, describing him as a fearless warrior who dedicated his life to restoring peace in Nigeria’s Northeast.
His legacy in counterterrorism efforts remains a testament to his unwavering commitment to national security”.
But in a swift reaction, an X App user, @Brainchild countered Makama’s claims, quoting a July 2019 report which linked the late super cop’s ordeal to the injuries he sustained when he was shot allegedly by troops of an army battalion in Yobe state.
While reacting to Makama’s report on his Zagazola page, Brainchild said “sustained bullet injury during an operation” @zagazola “this your assertion is totally wrong, ACP Dauda Fika was shot by troops of an army battalion in Yobe state on the 13th day of April, 2017 over an interagency rivalry and he has been bedridden ever since”.
Meanwhile, neither the authorities of the Nigeria Police nor the Nigerian Army has made any official statement on the passing ACP Fika.
