Ilorin West LG to Collaborate with Kwara State Livestock Productivity agency 

 

…as L-PRES presents feed-crushing machine to the youths

The Executive Chairman of Ilorin West Local Government, Hon. Sheu Abdulrahman Babatunde Ladan, today received the Kwara L-PRES (Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project) team led by the state project coordinator, Mr Olusoji Oyawoye on an official visit to discuss the project initiatives aimed at enhancing small ruminant productivity and profitability. L-PRES is a World Bank Assisted Project under the State Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

During the visit, the L-PRES team, while presenting a livestock processing machine to Hon. Ladan, emphasized their goal of supporting small ruminant farmers and marketers through crop residue processing for utilization by ruminants (Goats, sheep, and cows). This initiative seeks to address critical challenges faced by local farmers, particularly the high cost of feeds and supplements, by providing sustainable and cost-effective solutions. The team further commended the workaholic Governor in Kwara State, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq CON for his varying support across the State.

The youths representative, S.A. Infrastructure, to the Ilorin West Chairman, Mallam Jimoh Wahab Abaya, appreciated the L-PRES team for this outstanding opportunity for the good people of the local government. He thanked the Chairman for bringing this initiative to develop the agriculture sector in Ilorin West of Kwara State.

The Chairman commended the L-PRES team for their commitment to improving livestock productivity and reiterated the economic significance of increased ruminant production. Hon. Ladan noted that this effort would not only boost economic activities in Ilorin West but also create job opportunities for youths, ultimately contributing to national economic growth.

“Ilorin West Local Government remains committed to supporting initiatives that drive agricultural development, enhance food security, and improve the livelihoods of farmers within the local government area,” the chairman remarked

In attendance, Dr. Hakeem A. Ajiegbe, a lead facilitator from CDA, Bayero University Kano; Prof. Muritala Badmus, GIS expert; Mrs. Qudrat Zubair M/E, the LG Chief of Staff, Engr Oba A.O; CPS to the Chairman, Hon. Lukman Oroganloye; HOD Works department, Mallam Owolabi, amongst other.
