The Nigerian Minister of Finance, Mr. Wale Edun has revealed that a forensic audit of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited was underway.
Edun who made the revelation while speaking on Tuesday during the Nigerian Investor Forum, held on the sidelines of International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank spring meetings in Washington DC was quoted to have said that the audit became necessary to check the past activities of the Nigerian company.
Meanwhile, sources privy to the issues surrounding the Nigerian ‘oil politics’ say the immediate-past Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mele Kyari was seriously ruffled by the planned audit.
According to sources, Kyari who was recently sacked by President Tinubu allegedly had his tenure often characterized by scandals of corruption and systemic racketeering within the petroleum sector.
