A Commissioner designate from Nsit Atai Local Government Area, Princess Emem Ibanga, has appreciated Governor Umo Eno for nominating her to serve in his cabinet, promising to bring her wealth of experience to contribute in the actualization of the ARISE Agenda of his administration.
The Commissioner designate conveyed her message of appreciation to the Governor, Tuesday when she appeared before the lawmakers at plenary for further screening.
In her words; “Let me specially appreciate my Governor for finding me worthy to be nominated as a Commissioner designate ”
While answering questions on the floor of the House, Hon. Ibanga, immediate past Council Chairman of Nsit Atai Local Government, who is widely known as a grassroot mobilizer, pledged to deploy her wealth of experience and contacts in the delivery of the mandate that would be assigned to her by the Governor.
When the Speaker yielded the floor for her representative in the House of Assembly, Hon. Aniefiok Attah to offer his opinion on the nominee, the Nsit Atai Lawmaker who also doubles as Chairman, House Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Public Petitions, described Emem Ibanga as a go-getter and the pride of Nsit Atai, who had served creditably in her previous public offices.
He urged the Speaker and other House members to allow the nominee to take a bow.
Hon. Attah informed the Speaker that Hon. Ibanga had served Nsit Atai as the first female Council Chairman, a position she held both as Transition Chairman and as an elected Chairman to the admiration of all.
In his words; Mr. Speaker, we have here on the floor of the House, my Sister, Princess Emem Ibanga the first Woman to be a Chairman in my local government. She served as Transition Chairman, got elected as Chairman and was reelected for a second term”.
“I don’t have any reservation against her nomination. I want to plead that she be allowed to take a bow and go”.
On his part, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong who congratulated the nominee, had expressed hope that she would add value to the Umo Eno led administration when she would be assigned a portfolio by the Governor and submitted by saying “we know you’ll deliver. Go and make us proud.”
