2023 Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi has revealed that beyond offering sympathies to the former governor of Niger State; Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, the focus of their discussion during his visit to him was on the critical task of nation building.
The former Anambra state governor who dropped the hint after visiting Dr. Mu’azu earlier today over the recent losses of his mother and younger sister said the visit provided him with the opportunity to share in his grief.
According to Peter Obi “Also while in Minna, Niger State, in continuation of the New Year engagements, I visited Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, the Former Governor of Niger State, fondly referred to as the “Chief Servant”.
The visit was an opportunity to share in his grief following the recent loss of his mother and younger sister. I extended my heartfelt condolences and emphasized the importance of standing together during challenging times.
Beyond offering sympathies, our discussion also focused on the critical task of nation-building and the shared responsibility we all hold in shaping a brighter future for our country”.
Mr Peter Obi also visited the former Military Head of State, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (IBB) at his country home in Minna.
On his visit to IBB, Obi said “From Jigawa state, I travelled to Minna, Niger State to pay a visit to a father figure, elder statesman and leader, the former military president, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, at his residence in Minna, Niger State. The visit was an opportunity to wish him a happy New Year and to exchange thoughts on national issues.
General Babangida’s wisdom and perspectives remain very important and I always deeply appreciate the chance to visit him and listen to his invaluable advise and words of wisdom.
A new Nigeria is POssible”
There have been insinuations that Peter Obi who was second runner-up at the last presidential poll in Nigeria would contest again in 2027.
The presidential election which was won by the incumbent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), saw Peter Obi’s former political ally and Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP); Alhaji Atiku Abubakar emerge as first runner-up.
In 2019, Peter Obi who first became governor of Anambra state on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), was running mate to Atiku Abubakar on the PDP platform. The PDP lost to the then incumbent President, Muhammadu Buhari of the APC who was seeking a reelection.
