The immediate-past governor of Akwa Ibom State, Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel is alleged to be fighting back against moves by an Investigative Journalist, Fejiro Oliver to submit petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), detailing alleged diversion of funds during his administration.
Recall that Fejiro had yesterday called on Akwa Ibomites resident in Abuja to join his team as they storm the Abuja office of the anti-graft agencies on Monday.
In a release he personally signed and made available to the media today, Fejiro further alleged that the former governor in a bid to stop the probe has taken various steps including but not limited to reportedly dispatching a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and other persons to Abuja, reaching out to the police Headquarters.
Fejiro’s release read as follows:
“My dearest Akwa Ibomites, when I decided to dig into the governance of immediate past Gov. Emmanuel Udom from 2015 to 2023 with my team and found the massive corruption carried it, I went into it to expect the worst.
I could have asked my team in Nigeria to submit while I follow it up from my base here abroad, but I chose to make it to be owned by Akwa Ibomites, whose monies was looted not mine. For Delta State own, I championed it with my Delta people and the result is glaring. When a people own a project, they are able to fight united.
“This morning, I can confirm to you that the petition that will be submitted on Monday by my team in Nigeria in collaboration with Akwa Ibomites based in Abuja has stirred up serious troubled waters in the political space of Akwa Ibom and unsettled Udom since last night.
This is what has happened in the last few hours as directed by Udom Emmanuel and the current government.
“As I type, Mr Frank Archibong, the commissioner for local government and chieftancy affairs is currently boarding the first flight from Uyo now, to see the IG of Police. He will be going to meet the IG with a SAN and a petition to stop our petition and people going to EFCC. He wants the IG to declare the movement a security threat. He’s onboard the flight alongside the SSA on Research and Documentation, Essien ndueso. Archibong will be loaded with cash in Abuja to the Police HQ this morning.
They have also mobilised an army of social media vuvuzula to be all over the Internet to cast aspersions on my person as well as sing praises of Udom while fighting the petition in the public space.
“Thirdly, Chief Essien Ndueso, the former minister of Housing who’s also a former reps member is scheduled to appear tomorrow and Thursday on TV to call on Akwa ibomites to be united against anyone calling for the probe of Udom.
They are yet to conclude if it’s Arise or Channels TV for the appearance. Chief Ndueso is uncle to Udom Emmanuel.
Nigerians and Akwa Ibomites, I do not sit in my comfortable base here abroad for lack of jobs to do while calling for accountability from Udom Emmanuel. Let heavens fall, Udom will appear before EFCC to explain the over N700 billion diverted from state coffers, the billions he used in sponsoring his Presidential election if its his statutory salary. He will explain to the EFCC and Nigeria how VKS became a company where monies were withdrawn by director and paid into Sujimoto Lorenzo tower in Banana Island for to own a unit of house that goes for over $1.5M.
“Ibom Air initial purchase shrouded in secrecy will have its book opened for the first time. The $10 million investment in Real Estate in Atlanta US just ten days to leaving office as if it’s in Nigeria will be explained.
The IGP won’t stop it! Nothing on earth will stop the probe except President Bola Tinubu and God. Thankfully enough, Tinubu do not interfere in such grand corruption cases, that I know very well.
If it means leaving abroad to come to Nigeria to pursue the case after submission by my team, I will gladly do it.
Akwa Ibomites deserved better than they got under Udom. The money that came in do not equal the projects on ground and I can now tell why. Senate President Godswill Akpabio is not my friend any day but his projects have outlived him and still the major projects that turned Akwa Ibom from a state where people go to carry houseboys and girls into the first choice of tourism today in Nigeria. He ended the house boys and house girls syndrome with development which gave all indigenes a sense of pride. He didn’t need to carry out a secret Ibom Air project to make Akwa Ibom Nigeria’s fastest developed State.
“Let hundred SANs write petitions to the IGP, let millions of social media people be paid to fight, Akwa Ibomites will get justice for their monies and I offer myself to lead the charge for them.

Corruption allegations against Ex-gov Udom Emmanuel has not been corroborated by his successor, Pastor Umo Eno or any agency of the Akwa Ibom State government.
