One of the notable figures in Nigerian politics and military history, Lt. Gen. Jeremiah Useni is dead.
According to a reliable source, Gen Useni who was born in 1943 died today at the age of 82. Gen Useni, until his demise was a retired Nigerian Army officer and politician who had a distinguished career in both fields.
Military Career
Lt. Gen Useni Rtd joined the Nigerian Army in 1964 and rose through the ranks, serving in various capacities.
He was Commander, Nigerian Army Corps of Artillery, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 3rd Armored Division as well as Chief of Army Staff between 1985 and 1987.
Political Career:
Upon retiring from the military, Lt Gen Jeremiah Useni joined politics and had held several positions, including the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja from 1993 to 1998.
He was also Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District (1999-2003, 2015-2019).
Gen Useni was also Governorship candidate for Plateau State in 2011.
