Self-acclaimed leader of the now outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mr. Simon Ekpa has reportedly been arrested in Finland.
Commenting on his arrest, Human Rights Lawyer, Inibehe Effiong Esq wondered why it took so long for Ekpa to be arrested.
He said “Simon Ekpa has been arrested in Finland on suspicion of terrorism. He should give account of his actions.
You cannot stay in a foreign country and sponsor or instigate terrorism and killings in Nigeria.
I wonder why it took so long for him to be taken into custody. Let’s hope that the Finnish government has done due diligence”.
It could be recalled that following the arrest and ongoing prosecution of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu for alleged terrorism offences, Simon Ekpa had announced himself as new leader of IPOB.
One of the activities of Ekpa who is based in Finland was to insist on a sit-at-home order across all the five States of southeastern Nigeria. As ordered by Ekpa via his social media pronouncements, anyone who violates the sit-at-home must be dealt with.
The sit-at-home which Ekpa ordered to be observed every Monday meant that all the markets, stalls, public and private offices would remain closed while no one would be allowed to move on the roads.
Ekpa has also been consistently making inciting social media posts and comments.
“This will not save you terrorists @HQNigerianArmy in Biafraland. We will burn all Nigeria flag and replace it. This represents blood, anarchy, terrorism and poverty”, one of the many social media posts by Simon Ekpa.
