A core supporter-turned critic of Mr Peter Obi, Donu Kogbara has regretted the attitude of most supporters of the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, describing them as daft, primitive and feral.
Donu’s assertions came after she was seriously dragged by Peter Obi’s supporters popularly known as ObiDients, following her recent averments that the former Anambra governor was not doing effectively the work of an opposition leader in the country.
Donu said “Some Obidients are so daft, primitive and feral that they tarnish their hero’s image. They don’t listen carefully when folks like me offer Peter Obi constructive criticism we hope will improve his chances of winning in 2027. They just jump at one’s throat like wild animals”
It could be recalled that Donu had during an interview on Arise Tv, described Peter Obi as a pedestrian, saying he (Obi) had gone from top to bottom.
Donu Kogbara, a popular International Journalist had said “He (Obi) has become so pedestrian, making anodyne statements on TV. He is a good guy, but we can’t see a leader the opposition needs. He is a disappointment”.
Donu’s assertions didn’t go down well with the ObiDients who thronged the social media to attack the Journalist with many calling her unprintable names.
But Mr Peter has appreciated the Donu for the warmth reception she accorded him when he visited her, noting that leadership and personal growth were tied to the ability to listen, learn and engage with variety of perspectives.
Obi noted “Having watched the interview with Donu Kogbara on Arise TV and considering the concerns she raised, I felt it was important to visit her. As I have always maintained, leadership and personal growth are deeply tied to the ability to listen, learn, and engage with a variety of perspectives.
I sincerely thank her for the warm reception and useful discussion we had. These kinds of interactions enhance understanding and pave the way for constructive dialogue”.
After the meeting, Donu Kogbara has restated her commitment to her belief in the ObiDient movement, describing herself as ‘Born Again ObiDient’.
