The people of INI Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State have endorsed Governor Umo Eno for a second term in office for entrenching peace, good governance and development in the state.
The endorsement was made through a motion moved by the Political Leader of the area, Prof Ini Udoaka, and seconded by the Leader of the INI Local Government Area Legislative Council, Hon Donald Usoroh, at a Thank You Get Together for People Democratic Party, PDP, members at Odoro Ikpe, headquarters of the area, Thursday, January 9, 2025.
In the motion, Prof Udoaka highlighted Governor Eno’s impactful leadership and his administration’s support for grassroots development initiatives.
Chairman of the area, Hon Inibehe Umah, who also applauded Governor Eno for his sterling performance since assuming the office of Governor, said the Arise Agenda remains an anchor for domestication in the area, and assured the Governor of the solid support and backing of INI people to help in achieving its set goals.
Hon Umah who unveiled and distributed bags of branded Arise INI Rice, said the local rice project initiative was in line with the Arise Agenda of the Governor.
He said the rice project which has passed through various stages from cultivation to processing and distribution, employed modern techniques and practices to reach its final high quality level.
“The Governor is very much interested in agriculture, and as a government at the grassroots, we must key in and replicate same in our domains. What we are witnessing today is not just the launch of a rice brand, it is the birth of a new era in the agricultural history of INI Local Government Area, ” the Chairman said.
He commended Governor Eno for being “magnanimous in sitting of projects across the 31 Local Government Areas of the state, appointment of youths and women into various positions, as well as taking care of aged people.”
In separate goodwill messages, the member representing INI State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon Lawrence Udoide, speaking through Elder Isaac Moses, the immediate past Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr Offiong Offor, speaking through her spouse, Dr Samuel Offor, the Honorary Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Duties, Rt Hon Emmanuel Ekpenyong, former Commissioner Dr Glory Edet, Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Matters, Hon Charles Udofia, all praised Governor Umo Eno for his sterling leadership, and commended Hon Umah for keying into the Arise Agenda and for not disappointing INI people.
Vice Chairman of the council, Mrs Veronica Edidiong Bassey, Former Chairmen of the Local Government council, Otuekong Emmanuel Ebe, Dr Etetim Anwatim, Hon Israel Idaisin and Hon Innocent Udom, Secretary to the council, Hon Ubong Mkpa, and the Local Government Area Chapter Chairman of the PDP, Hon Imo Abam, were among prominent citizens at the gathering.
