The Executive Director (ED), Network Against Corruption and Trafficking, (NACAT); Mr Fejiro Oliver has hinted that his group had accepted to appear as witness in court on their petition against the immediate-past governor of Akwa Ibom State, Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel.
Recall that NACAT had petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), urging the anti-graft agencies to investigate with a view to prosecuting the former governor over alleged looting of funds during his tenure, running into hundreds of billions of Naira.
In a release today, the NACAT ED also revealed that his group had been called upon by the EFCC and ICPC to adopt its petitions.
Fejiro said: “We can tell you now that EFCC & ICPC has officially called us to adopt NACAT Initiative petition against Udom which we have done. By adopting the petition, we accept to be called upon as witness in court when the need arise and to own up to what we have written in the petition.
This is what we have been waiting for since to move to phase 2 in the battle to bring succor to Akwa Ibomites and tell them that justice is on the way and let them know that Udom Emmanuel and all their corrupt leaders will account for every dime they took from the public treasury.
One thing is certain, Udom Emmanuel will be investigated, prosecuted and refund back the looted N700 billion looted by him”.
Meanwhile, the NACAT boss has also posted a picture of mansion in Lagos which he claimed belongs to the former Akwa Ibom governor, Udom Emmanuel.
Describing the house allegedly as “Former Gov. Udom Emmanuel $5 million Ikoyi House”, Fejiro noted: “Before you defend the former Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, be sure you have this mansion or have the capacity to access public funds and also own this property.
This mansion is situated off Glover Road, Ikoyi just close to President Bola Tinubu’s guest house. How many bank MDs have such properties in this choice place of Lagos, talk much of a former bank ED?”.
But, political allies of the former banker-turned governor have absolved him of any wrong doing during his eight years tenure as State Chief Executive of the Oil-rich Niger Delta state.
