…as Oyigbo Police station demand N120k
A young girl of 17 years old named Chinedu Favour Kingsley has reportedly been denied release by the Oyigbo Police station, Port Harcourt, Rivers State over her uncle’s inability to part with the sum of One hundred and twenty thousand Naira (N120,000.00) ostensibly for her bail.
According to an X App (formerly Twitter) user who alerted the authorities of the Nigeria Police and the general public, Favour was arrested on the prompting of her boss who accused her and her colleague of allegedly stealing his thirty four thousand Naira (N34,000.00).
The social media user said “Let me draw the attention of the Rivers State police command @RiversPoliceNG to this case.
Chinedu Favour Kingsley is a 17 year old girl who works as a sales girl for someone in Oyigbo Rivers State.
She went to work yesterday while her colleague was absent. Surprisingly her Boss accused she and her second of stealing his 34,000 naira the previous day.
Since her second didn’t come to work, her Boss decided to arrest her alone.
She was taken to Oyigbo police @PoliceNG station in Rivers state, and has been locked up there in cell for over 24 hours now.
Her uncle whom she stays with went to the police station to inquire about her case and possibly bail her. But the police at Oyigbo asked him to pay 120,000 naira.
Since he doesn’t have the money they have refused to release her”
Meanwhile, ProGist gathered that social media users have begun to call out authorities of the Oyigbo Police station for keeping the presumed innocent girl beyond 24 hours in detention.
