…Sowore kicks, demands punishment for their arrestors
The President of Nigeria, His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered for immediate release of minors who were arrested, detained and arraigned over the August 2024 nationwide protest, our paper can authoritatively report.
The president’s order came after intense media pressure across the country in which commentators condemned the actions of Tinubu-led government of arraigning the children.
It would be recalled that some of the detained minors who appeared malnourished, fainted during their arraignment few days ago.
This sparked widespread condemnation leading to the Attorney -General of the federation’s call for the case file from the prosecutors.
Reacting to the president’s directive, Sowore, an activist and publisher of Sahara Reporters called for punishment for those who arrested, detained and prosecuted the minors.
In a post on his verified social media handles, Sowore also demanded for compensation in favour of the incarcerated minors.
He said “Those responsible for their arrest, detention, and prosecution must be fished out and punished. The demand is for all the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria PROTESTERS detained across Nigeria to be released unconditionally, immediately and adequately compensated #RevolutionNow”.
