The Man Who Thought It Was Over, Until Mercy Spoke

# NEW MERCIES DAILY!

MESSAGE TITLE:

The Man Who Thought It Was Over, Until Mercy Spoke

DATE : 27/2/25

BY : EFFIONG ETOK
Carrier of God’s Word

SCRIPTURE TEXT:

2 Kings 25:27-30 (NLT)
“In the thirty-seventh year of the exile of King Jehoiachin of Judah, Evil-merodach ascended to the Babylonian throne. He was kind to Jehoiachin and released him from prison… So Jehoiachin put aside his prison clothes and wore the new clothes of royalty.”

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
” No prison is too dark, no sentence too long, and no shame too deep for God’s mercy to overturn”.

INTRODUCTION:

Yesterday, we reflected on Manasseh-the mocked man who found mercy. A king who had fallen into deep sin, disgrace, and judgment, yet when he humbled himself, mercy erased his record and restored him and his throne.

Today’s message is a continuation of that theme, reminding us again that mercy is never too late, even for the condemned.

MESSAGE:

Jehoiachin was guilty-guilty before God and man.
Nobody prayed for his release.
Nobody fought for his freedom.
Nobody wrote to the king of Babylon on his behalf.

He was a condemned man.

For 37 long years, he sat in the darkness of a prison, forgotten, rejected, and left to die in chains. Maybe, at some point, he stopped praying for release because his greatest cry became:

“Lord, just have mercy on me.”

And maybe you, too, have stopped praying for change.
Maybe you feel the weight of your past, your mistakes, your failures, and your sins is too much. Maybe you think that no one is interceding for you, that your case is closed.

But hear this: If God could have mercy on Jehoiachin, He can have mercy on you!

THE MERCY THAT SILENCED THE ACCUSER

Jehoiachin’s guilt was real, but one day, God overruled the accusers and erased his records of sins.

The same way Joshua the high priest stood before God, clothed in filthy garments, and Satan stood at his right hand to accuse him (Zechariah 3:1-5), so did Jehoiachin sit in the prison of his sins, with no one pleading for him.

But God did not allow the accuser to have the final say.
God rebuked the accusations against Joshua, saying, “The Lord rebuke you, Satan!”
He ordered a change of garments-removing the filth and putting on clean clothes.

It happened to Jehoiachin, who had worn prison clothes for 37 years, was brought out and dressed in royal garments.

PRAYER POINTS.

1.”O Lord, I come before You just as I am, guilty and undeserving. If You could show mercy to Jehoiachin after 37 years of judgment, Lord, please have mercy on me! Forgive my sins, erase my past, and deliver me from the chains of guilt and condemnation. I refuse to believe the lie that I am forgotten. Father, remember me today, show me mercy, and rewrite my story! Let every voice accusing me before You be silenced by the blood of Jesus! Have mercy on me, Lord! Have mercy! Have mercy!”

2. “O God of Jehoiachin, You took away his prison clothes after 37 years and clothed him with honor. Today, I cry unto You-remove every garment of frustration, disappointment, sickness, stagnation, shame, reproach, backwardness, hard luck… in my life! Lord, tear off the old clothes of pain and sorrow that I have worn for years! Dress me with favor, with honor, with divine speed, and with breakthrough! Let the world see that mercy has spoken for me ,in Jesus Mighty name. Amen!
