The Word With Etok: They Locked Him Up, But Not His Assignment

# New Mercies Daily!

SERMON TITLE:
They Locked Him Up, But Not His Assignment

DATE: 17/2/2

BY: EFFIONG ETOK
Carrier of God’s Word

SCRIPTURE TEXT:
1 Kings 22:27 (NLT):
“‘Arrest him,’ the king of Israel ordered. ‘Take him back to Amon, the governor of the city, and to my son Joash. Give them this order from the king: ‘Put this man in prison, and feed him nothing but bread and water until I return safely from the battle!’”

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:

They may limit your movement, but they cannot limit your mission. They may silence your voice, but they cannot silence your assignment. When God has sent you, no prison can stop your prophecy, and no chain can cancel your calling.

INTRODUCTION:

Child of God, hear me well. The enemy may put you in chains, but they cannot imprison your calling. They may fight your destiny, but they cannot fight the God behind your destiny.

Micaiah and Jeremiah were locked up, beaten, and rejected. But the chains on their bodies could not chain their assignments. The enemy can try to silence you, but a voice sent by God cannot be buried.

What is trying to cage your destiny? Are they fear that cripples your dreams, sickness that drains your strength, or rejection that breaks your spirit? Can the weight of affliction silence the voice that God Himself has sent? No! Whatever is fighting to bury your purpose will bow before your assignment, and every barrier to your destiny will shatter before the power of God’s plan for your life!

MESSAGE:

1. JEREMIAH: Thrown into a Dungeon, But His Destiny Could Not Be Buried (Jeremiah 37:15-16)
Jeremiah was beaten and imprisoned for speaking the truth:
“They were furious with Jeremiah and had him flogged and imprisoned… He was put into a dungeon cell, where he remained for many days.” (Jeremiah 37:15-16, NLT)

Though they flogged him, the truth in him could not be beaten. Though they locked him in a dungeon, his assignment reached beyond the walls.

The dungeon could not swallow his destiny.

The prison could not silence his prophecy.

When Jerusalem fell, his words stood as an eternal witness-man can lock up a prophet, but they cannot lock up prophecy.

Prayer: Every dungeon assigned to bury your voice shall become your platform for prophecy to prevail.

2. MICAIAH: Imprisoned, Yet His Prophecy Broke Through (1 Kings 22:14-16, 27-28)
The king’s officers pressured him to speak what the king wanted to hear. But Micaiah boldly declared:
“As surely as the Lord lives, I will say only what the Lord tells me to say.”

Because he stood for truth:

Zedekiah slapped him.

Ahab imprisoned him with only bread and water.

Yet, though they locked him up, his prophecy broke through the bars and declared the king’s death. And it happened exactly as he said.

The chains could hold his body, but they could not hold his assignment. His voice spoke beyond the prison walls and ruled over the battlefield.

Prophetic Declaration: In this season, may God give you the courage to speak His truth, even when it costs you friendships, opportunities, or comfort.

SPIRITUAL IMPLICATIONS:

1. Your Environment Cannot Limit Your Assignment:
They caged Micaiah, but his words ruled the war.
They confined Jeremiah, but his prophecy conquered a nation.

2. Opposition Cannot Cancel God’s Purpose:
Chains may hold your body, but they cannot hold your destiny.

3. Man Can Lock You Out, But Not Out of God’s Plan:
Ahab tried to bury Micaiah’s voice, but his destiny outlived the king.
Jeremiah’s oppressors tried to silence him, but his words became history.

REFLECTION:

What is trying to lock you up-Fear? Delay? Betrayal? Rejection? Hear this prophecy: They may limit you, but they cannot limit your God.

Your assignment will speak, your prophecy will manifest, and your destiny will prevail.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Almighty God, every power trying to lock up my destiny-scatter by fire. Let my assignment break through every barrier and speak for me beyond walls and limitations.

2. Father, give me the courage of Micaiah and Jeremiah. Let my voice rise above opposition, and let my prophecy outlive every enemy of my destiny. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
