2027: Key Kwankwaso’s men, supporters quit NNPP, join APC 

 

 

Three groups of top members of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), who are grassroots mobilisers of the Kwankwsiyya Movement join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Kwankwsiyya is a sociopolitical movement in Kano state totally associated with the former governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso.

The first group of decampees was led by Alhaji Abdullahi Sani Kwami, a former vice chairman of Gwarzo local government area, Kano State.

Kwami, famously known as Dollar, led hundreds of NNPP leaders, including grassroots party executive members and women leaders to the APC during their visit to me at the National Assembly yesterday.

In the same vein, a group of former student leaders under the leadership of Comrade Mohammed Nafiu Danlami, dumped their red caps, the symbol of the Kwankwsiyya movement, to embrace the APC.

Also, yesterday, a famous youth mobiliser of the NNPP/ Kwankwsiyya in Getso, Gwarzo LGA, Abba Kafi Governor, led his followers to the APC.

Kwankwaso’s political career began in 1992 when he was elected as a member of the House of Representatives. He later became the Deputy Speaker of the House. In 1999, he was elected as the Governor of Kano State, a position he held until 2003. During his tenure, he established the Kano University of Science and Technology and introduced free education at all levels in the state.

Kwankwaso has also been a strong advocate for education and has established several schools and institutions, including the North West University, Kano. He has also provided scholarships to thousands of students to study abroad.

In recent years, Kwankwaso has been involved in various political activities, including his presidential campaigns in 2015 and 2019. In 2022, he joined the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and contested in the 2023 presidential election, where he came in fourth place.
