Abia gov, Otti flags off construction, reconstruction of roads

The governor of Abia state, Mr. Alex Otti has restated his commitment towards extending developments to every part of the state.

Mr Otti who disclosed this while flagging off the reconstruction of phases 1 and 2 of the 13.95-kilometre Onuinyang–Okporoenyi–Oboro–Ikwuano Road, maintained that all the projects would be completed within stipulated time.

“2025 marks a turning point for millions of Ndi Abia across our 17 LGAs and 184 wards, spanning over 500 communities. From the start, we pledged that no part of the State would be neglected. Our goal is to revive the levers of our economy and create an environment that supports the dreams and aspirations of our hardworking population”, Gov Otti noted in a post flag off statement.

He continued “Today, we flagged off the reconstruction of phases 1 and 2 of the 13.95-kilometre Onuinyang–Okporoenyi–Oboro–Ikwuano Road. The road connects the central and northern senatorial districts, linking tens of thousands of farmers to urban markets within and outside the State.

The 13-kilometre stretch is scheduled for timely completion and is designed to endure environmental factors. It will facilitate the transport of people and agricultural commodities, boost inter-community trade, and enhance social interactions among individuals, families, and clans”.

While hinting that the roads construction would enhance farmers’ businesses, the governor thanked the State Commissioner for Works and his team for their professional direction.

“From Nunya to Abam, Uzuakoli to Isuochi, Umuala to Umuopara, and across other semi-urban and rural communities, we are expanding opportunities for farmers and other players in the agro-allied business ecosystem.

I extend my gratitude to the Honourable Commissioner for Works, Engr. Don Otumchere Oti, and his team for their professional direction in our road infrastructure restoration and expansion agenda. I expect them to maintain this momentum in the New Year and ensure this project is delivered on schedule and in line with design specifics. There should be no room for compromise, laxity, or breaches”.
