Gov Zulum lauds Nigerian Army over return of peace in Borno, N/East

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum, has lauded the unwavering efforts of the Nigerian Army in the fight against terrorism and insurgency across North-East Nigeria, particularly in Borno State.

A release signed by the Director, Army Public Relations, Major-Gen Onyema Nwachukwu indicates that Gov Zulum made this commendation on Thursday, December 5, 2024, during a courtesy visit by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, and a delegation of senior military officers at the Government House in Maiduguri.

The release further noted that the governor praised the Nigerian Army’s sacrifices in restoring peace and stability to the region and pledged his continued support for their operations.

Gov Zulum was also quoted to have urged the military to intensify efforts to enable the safe return of displaced persons to their ancestral communities.

In his remarks, the COAS expressed gratitude to Governor Zulum for the state government’s unwavering support of the Nigerian Army’s counter-terrorism initiatives. He called for sustained collaboration to ensure the security challenges in the state are swiftly addressed.

He reassured the Governor and the people of Borno State of the Nigerian Army’s steadfast commitment to creating a secure environment that allows citizens to resume their normal lives.

Lt Gen Oluyede’s visit to Maiduguri forms part of his operational tour aimed at assessing troop readiness and bolstering their morale for enhanced effectiveness in ongoing counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations in the North-East.
